Itinerary

Just 20 minutes from central Cairns and 40 minutes from Port Douglas, Barron Gorge National Park is convenient for whichever option you select when bookingâ€”either hotel pickup by coach or driving yourself to Lake Placid. The park is known for its rugged rainforest mountains, steep ravines, Barron Falls, and, of course, Barron Gorge, carved out over thousands of years by the Barron River.

When you arrive at Lake Placid, meet your guide to get ready for your white-water rafting tour on the river, which snakes its way down from the mountains toward the Coral Sea. During this scenic experience, enjoy a combination of calm water and a series of white-water rapids, providing you with both peaceful floating and more exciting action. Youâ€™ll raft for up to two hours on rapids up to grade III.

No experience is necessary, making this a good choice for beginner rafters. Rafts hold up to seven passengers plus your river guide, who keeps you safe and entertained. When your tour is over, return to your pickup point. Total duration of this tour depends on your pickup location or if you drive yourself.

Our guide, Tom, was incredible. He was very skilled and knowledgeable, and made us all feel at ease with the entire experience. Awesome fun and an experience I’ll never forget. I can’t wait to try grade 4 rapids now. I’m hooked!

Great afternoon out .u never know what’s going 2 happen. Rob did a excellent job and did a few tricks for us . Learnt how to get into a raft when in water . When u fall in and what 2 do . Highly recommend and is good value

We had an absolutely fantastic time on the Barron river! Our guide Justin was excellent- very friendly and safe- he made the whole experience even more enjoyable! Would definitely go back and have already recommended this trip to family

What an amazing afternoon! My grown up family thoroughly enjoyed our time on the river. The guides were very professional, fun, and made us feel really safe. Swimming through some of the rapids was a fun and novel experience for us that made this tour special. Would highly recommend it!

A great day out, not too thrilling, just good fun. But it was our tour leader who made the difference. He was so funny and engaging all afternoon, and that made a good day into a great day.

Great experience, looking for a bit more adventure. Hoping in and out of the water to flow down stream rather just riding the rapids. Funny tour guys made the day, was fun would recommend but at the end of the day if you want even only one photo it’s going to cost you $55. This is approximately 50 photos they say. Disappointing with this price, a bit rich.
