Flanked on one side by the ocean and the Mooloolah River on the other, Point Cartwright is a stunning beach, located at the base of the headland at the northern end of Kawana Beach. See the iconic Point Cartwright lighthouse and ocean themed mural-painted reservoir.

Alexandra Headland has a relaxed and laid back atmosphere that complements the soothing rolling surf and inviting beaches. Alexandra Headland's main attraction is its magnificent coastal frontage of beach, headland and parks extending for kilometres north and south.

Old Woman Island (or Mudjimba Island) is located 1km off the coast. There are a number of Aboriginal legends abound about the Island. One has it, the Island was the result of an epic battle between two men, Coolum and Ninderry, and a woman called Maroochy. The end result was that Coolum's head was knocked off and ended up in the ocean, creating Mudjimba Island. Mount Coolum, seven kilometers to the north, is now flat topped due to the lack of a head!
There are various other legends involving Aboriginal women living on the island until old age, hence the "Old Woman" name.

From the moment we arrived at the wharf, Brendan the host was nothing but friendly and welcoming. He was very professional but managed to also have a good joke and put me at ease. He had many a story to tell about the surrounding area as we made our way out of the river. This extra knowledge really contributed to making the experience so much more than I was expecting. Great fun when we were able to get up to speed and we even saw a whale and her calf as we sped out to mudjimba island. Would definitely go back for a longer trip. Thanks for an awesome trip!

We had an amazing morning and we were lucky enough to see a whale on our way to Mudjimba Island. Brendan was really knowledgeable, as well as entertaining. We laughed lots and loved the high speed turns. Best fun ever.

Our family of four adults, 1 teen joined this tour on a spectacular sunny September day. Brendan was our skipper, ably assisted by young Jake. Weather was brilliant, Brendan’s commentary knowledgeable and entertaining, the boat ride was great fun but the whales! So many whales! And they were in the mood to play - we saw so many incredible things, it was a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!

We were an extended family of 8 looking for something different and exciting to do and we were not disappointed! The booking process with Georgia was easy and helpful, the whale watching was just amazing and so special to see. Matt was full of knowledge and information and gave us some pretty thrilling turns on our way back to Mooloolaba.

Chose a stunning clear Saturday and the whole experience was excellent - from booking with the bubbly Georgia to the entertaining skipper Brendan. 4 hour free parking from 8am at the complex worked well with the return time of 11am (parking fills quickly, so plan to arrive early to be on time for the 9.15 briefing). They will safely store your carkeys etc. in the office, so you don't have to worry about them getting wet. The safety briefing was comprehensive and you know you are in good hands. Brendan's knowledge of the local area makes him a perfect tour guide on the way through the marina out to the seaway. The boat trip was high speed fun and we saw plenty of whales. The whales were not breaching but did swim by quite close to the boat when we stayed in one spot for a while. Brendan always made sure everyone was comfortable with the speed and the donuts were a great way to finish off the ride. There are a few options out of Mooloolaba on larger vessels, but this whale watching trip has the added bonuses of a thrilling ride and only nine passengers... and 90 minutes of Brendan's dad jokes :)

The best whale watching experience we have been on! The adventure starts as soon as you leave the wharf with expert commentary of the Mooloola river mansions. Once into open water the high speed vessel takes you on a thrilling but safe trip out to the whales. The respect (by remaining at the appropriate distance) shown to these majestic creatures by our skipper, resulted in 30 minutes travelling alongside two massive relaxed wild whales, breaching in unison and staying on the surface as if they were looking at us as much as we were marvelling them. Thankyou Adventure rafting for creating lifelong memories. We will be back! Leisl and Simon

Such an amazing first time experience for me and 3 of my family members! We had such a great time and the tour from Brendon was amazing, we learnt new things☺️We enjoyed Brendon and his teams customer service, they always made sure we were okay and supported us even when we felt scared! We Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! An Adventure it was🤩

The adventure rafting was an amazing experience! As soon as we arrived we felt welcomed by the staff. Brendan was an amazing host, he made us feel safe while having a lot of fun. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely brilliant...worth it for the boat ride alone. Felt very secure and safe. And saw whales up close. Great fun if you love riding the waves and speed and don't mind getting a bit wet.
