Had a great day with Foodie Trails on the Footscray Food Tour. We were following around a very knowledgeable guide and visited 2 restaurants (one Ethiopian and one Sudanese) and ate plenty at both. The owners checked in while we ate and explained everything about the restaurant and the food. We had a fantastic time and I highly recommend the Footscray Food Tour!
I live in Melbourne but I learnt so much about the history and how food is still carrying that history in our gorgeous city. I really liked that we didn't walk far but saw a lot of different sides to the city. I enjoyed the small size of the group and the chance to chat with other participants as we moved from place to place. I really liked the Immigration Museum and the chance to go back and spend longer there. For a solo traveller or as a gift voucher this is a great experience!
Wonderful day exploring 'Little India' in Dandenong. Makes me suddenly want to go to India on a food tour, now! I am looking forward to cooking up some of my tasty purchases and watching my new Bollywood movie!
Lunch was enormous and delicious. But perhaps it might be better to order a range of different and some less common dishes for the table to try and share.
Lovely and enthusiastic hosts and warm hospitality at every stop. Thanks to everyone.
The walking tours was good with just the right amount of walking between venues. The food knowledge was interesting and the I liked visiting the shops and looking around between the food venues. The atmosphere was relaxed and the variety of food was great and quality was generous. I also tried things I would have generally never ordered. all in all was a good day out !
Did the African Trails recently & absolutely loved it. Fun, casual set-up where you can ask any questions you like. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and I now know so much about African culture! Next thing to do would be to travel to Africa with Foodie Trails...can't wait to explore this part of the world that is so highly misrepresented!
I was gifted a lone ticket for the Masala CBD (Indian) Walking Tour I was a little nervous but was soon chatting to people in the group easily as we were all foodies and lots of us with travel stories. We first went to have some brunch at a little cafe where all food was explained and what we had was delicious then onto a grocer where we basically took over the shop with the guide behind the counter explaining all the foods and spices. We had an opportunity to buy here also then more walk and talk onto the next restaurant where we started discussing pop culture in India, the different languages, clothing, furniture and anything else you can think of! The guide Epsy was great, basically talking the whole time and there was more food than I could eat. Dietary requirements were happily catered for and the food did not stop coming until everyone said stop. Great tour, HIGHLIGHTS for me were the abundance of food and just the general socialising with a group of people with a similar love for food and culture TIPS Stay close to guide to hear better in restaurants as it can get noisy
We have a fabulous time on our small group tour around the Melbourne CBD, trying Indian food and visiting a wonderful spice shop. Both the spice shop and one of the restaurants I would have walked past many times and not realised they were there - nor the great quality. Himanshi was a wonderful guide, full of stories and extensive information about India. I would highly recommend this tour.
