Step into Western Australia’s early settler past at Corrigin Pioneer Museum, where the old pipeline pump station and display of early Australian farm machinery will transport you back in time.
The quaint country town of Corrigin is a two-and-a-half-hour drive east of Perth and is the ideal rest stop if you’re exploring the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail, or heading to iconic Wave Rock.
Housed in one of the original pump stations on the Golden Pipeline, the museum is a great place to learn about this unique engineering feat that delivers the most precious resource, water, to the Goldfields.
It’s also easy to imagine life as an early settler as you peruse the fascinating collection of farm tools, pioneer memorabilia and restored farm machinery. Visit the blacksmith’s shop, the original school and the shearing shed. The museum is open on Sunday and Wednesday afternoons, and by appointment at other times. Entry fees apply.
Stay overnight at the motel, hotel or caravan park and explore more of the region’s treasures. Take the scenic Corrigin Wildflower Drive (September and October), or head to Kunjin Animal Farm, 18 kilometres to the west, where you can pet alpacas, emus, deer, ostriches, miniature donkeys and more.
